Understanding your dog's mind

How tiny changes can make a big impact and fuel the training success you and your dog deserve.

A self-paced, online course to understanding your dog's mind.

You’ve researched various training methods, watched countless training videos online and even bought a few books. But you still struggle to get the training results you want.

Does this sound familiar?

Don’t worry, you aren’t alone. I’ve seen many owners in the same position.

Often, that missing piece of the puzzle is understanding how dogs learn.

What’s going on in your dog’s mind when you’re teaching them a new behaviour?

How can you set up the training sessions for optimal learning?

Why do they seem to understand a cue one day, but not the next?

This course aims to give you that insight into how your dog thinks.

To teach you how small changes in situations can make a big impact.

And ultimately, how to manage your training to get the success you and your dog deserve.

Course contents

In this section you'll learn about how to influence your dog's choices so that they consistently pick the choice you'd like them to make.

There are lots of different factors which affect how difficult a behaviour will be for your dog to perform. In this section you'll learn about how to manage these to set your dog up for success.

Your dog's bucket

This section looks at how your dog's physiology affects their ability to learn and how you can use this to your advantage when training.

Giving your dog down time is hugely important for both their mental and physical wellbeing. Here you will learn ways to add calmness to their day.

Our now 5 month old puppy Rio and I have learnt so much and the techniques learnt with Gemma are helping to make Rio calmer all round. Gemma is a fantastic trainer with a lot of knowledge and a huge amount of patience.
I highly recommend Sussex Canines, Gemma has great knowledge about dog training, no question had been left unanswered, there was advice for any behaviour we were struggling with.
